Fürstenau and the region

Fürstenau and its surroundings offer its recreational travelers a variety of possibilities. Discover the idyllic Emsland region between Rheine in the south, Papenburg in the north, the Dutch border in the west and the Northern Teutoburg Forest Nature Park with Osnabrück in the east.

The Dortmund-Ems Canal, the Ems, the Hase and the Große Aa, the Alfsee and the Thülsfelder Talsperre all delight water sports enthusiasts. Cyclists and hikers enjoy the beautiful Hase valley: several thousand fruit trees point the way. The best way is by bike: always follow the hare! Past romantic castles, majestic mills, hidden Artland farms and old locks.

A highlight right on our doorstep is Fursten Forest, Europe’s largest area for outdoor activities. Drive a kart, monster truck, tank or quad bike, take part in the Hummer Experience or play laser games and paint ball.
